STATEMENT OF FAITH

Hope Academy Gqeberha NPC Subscribes to the following basis of faith, to which all employees and office bearers must subscribe without reservation and parents of children need to be aware of:

1.That the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three persons of one Godhead;

2. The Triune God is the sovereign creator and sustainer of the entire universe;

3. That the Holy Scripture is given by divine inspiration, is entirely trustworthy in its revelation of God and in His dealings with humankind, and is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. It is without error in anything which it affirms;

4. That all people have sinned, stand guilty before God, and are subject to His judgement and condemnation;

5. That the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, the only mediator between man and God, has, by dying for and on behalf of sinful humanity, effected the complete redemption of the sinner from every aspect of sin. This redemption affects all creation in the light

6. That the Lord Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven to reign with the Father in glory;

7. That the sinner is justified and saved solely by the grace of God through faith;

8. That the Holy Spirit is present and active in the process of regeneration and works within each believer to perfect God's purposes;

9. That all believers are members of the one holy universal and apostolic Church which is the body of Christ and is indwelt by the Holy Spirit;

10. That, as members of this church, all believers are called to be one and to show forth the Kingdom of God and His qualities of love,  mercy, truth, justice and peace;

11. That the Lord Jesus Christ will return again, as He promised.

Code of Conduct

Vistion Statement

Hope Academy, through developing a biblical wordview, prepares the hearts and minds of pupils with an excellent holistic education in order to influence society.

Mission Statement

We are a school that values a high level of teaching , learning and assessing. We intentionally equip young people to think and operate from the foundation of a clear biblical worldview. We provide a warm extended family that cares for every learner through a range of close pastoral relationships with peers, teachers and sponsors.

We believe in honoring and respecting each other through personal self-control and discipline. We provide an environment where we value pupils as individuals and so seek to identify their unique talents and characteristics. We promote service, cooperation and teamwork in order to reach out to others and the community.

Aim of the Code of Conduct

A school code of conduct is designed to fairly and consistently moderate and shape the behavior of an individual or group of individuals to the expectations of the organization. The Hope Academy code of conduct is grounded on the biblical worldview.

Values

This code of conduct is grounded in our values as a gospel-centered school:

● Truth - 2 Corinthians 13:8

● Respect -  Ephesians 5:21

● Responsibility - 1 Corinthians 9:25

● Diligence - Proverbs 12:24

● Perseverance - Romans 2:7

● Kindness - Matthew 7:12

● Joy - Philippians 4:4

Levels  of Discipline

This code of conduct is made up of three levels of discipline, as well as related of consequence. For each level different staff are responsible:

● Level 1 — involves minor misdemeanors that are usually dealt with by teachers in the classroom. Teachers can make use of positive reinforcement to ensure these misdemeanors happen less or by negative reinforcement if the misdemeanor occurred despite the pupil knowing it was not approved by the school community.

● Level 2— involves more repeated minor misdemeanors or more serious misdemeanors that  may involve both the teacher, a senior teacher and/or the headmaster.

● Level 4 — involves repeated misdemeanors with no change in behavior that would generally involve the headmaster and the parents of the child. In the most serious of these misdemeanors the child may be removed from the school.
