Hill Cross Day Care Centre History
Hill Cross Day Care Centre started on 3 Augustus 2000 as an outreach project of the Hill Presbyterian Church to the community. Over a thousand children’s lives were touched. The reports we heard of children moving on with their education training were that they are doing well. During and after Covid we did not do so well financially and had to close down December 2023 but God intervene. The secretary of the Hill Presbyterian Church discussed the closing down with the principal of Hope Academy. Meetings were held and on the 2 October 2023 we started at Hope Academy being part of their school.
Educational Aim
The aim of Hill Cross Day Care Centre is to develop the children in all aspects of their life with the daily programme to enhance the quality of their life and preparing them for primary school by developing the following areas: spiritual, mentally, physically, socially and emotionally. We also give the children a love and eagerness to learn, to love school and doing school work. Stimulating the child at home plays a very important part in a child’s development towards school readiness. The first six years of a child’s life the foundation for his whole life is being laid.
PURPOSE AND PHILOSOPHY
We are a Christian organization but we welcome people of all faiths. We are dedicated to providing a warm, inviting atmosphere that will allow children to develop at their own pace. We foster this image along with developmental growth in spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills. Through a variety of play and learn activities the children are guided to a greater self confidence in their abilities and a better knowledge of their Creator.
HOURS
– The Day Care Centre operates strictly from 7:00 – 17:00 on weekdays only and is closed on weekends, public holidays and over the Christmas and New Year holiday season.
FOOD
– We supply breakfast and lunch
RERORTS
– The Day Care Centre provides one report per child, per year. The report provides both mid-year and end of year comments.
