Thank you to all those who have supported us financially, with their time and
expertise and with their prayers and support. Our appreciation is such that words
fail, nevertheless, we are tremendously grateful for every willing heart and hand
that has made this vision a reality.

Hope Academy Opened Its Doors on 19th January 2022!

Wynand and Marietjie du Plessis’ vision was to use their building as a school where little ones would receive a quality education and be taught the gospel.
The couple willingly put their prayers, time and resources behind this dream and that was the beginning of a Christian school aimed at serving the local community of Central, Gqeberha and other underprivileged areas within the Metro.
Work crew came in, almost immediately, to renovate the building to meet South African schools’ specifications. The board-appointed Principal, Steve Le Feuvre, set about preparing the curriculum, finding staff, as well as a hundred other tasks.

At last…On the 19th January 2022, Hope Academy opened its doors… Having had no enrollments prior to opening day, the staff faithfully started the day with worship and prayer jumbled with nervous excitement. When the stillness at the door was beginning to be invasive in walked young Yondela, amidst singing, ready to start his first day of grade one. Amen and Amen!

We would like to introduce you to the staff members of Hope Academy, who have all
been employed not just for their skill but for their love for the Lord and their willingness to serve.
Babalwa is a psychology honors graduate who is acting as our receptionist until she heads off to continue with her Masters’ degree. Nomboniso is our cleaner. She has completed various office - and computer-related courses but her passion is for children. She often steps in as teacher’s assistant when needed.

Lance, our courageous security guard, lives on the premises and guards the building day and night. He is the children’s “big brother”. Cindy, was the grade two and three teacher who ran a tight ship but her
methods are loving. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She uses her musical gifts in the worship team of her church.
Bongiwe is the adventurous Grade R and Grade 1 teacher who has studied various education courses. She loves art and brings her creative flair to the classroom.

The admin support team consists of
Lauren and Kalay who are not at school every day but work tirelessly
offsite to assist Principal Steve and the school in various vital ways.

Sponsorship Opportunities. Monthly Operating Costs: R132 000 (to be recovered from school fees)
Monthly School Fees: R1100 per child (sponsor the full amount or part thereof)
Daily Meals For Learners (not included in the operating costs above)

Monthly Fees: Payable from Jan-Nov - 11 months only.Grade R: R1200, Grade 1 -3 : R1300
